Inspirational and motivational speaker, former Chief of the Defence Staff for the Canadian Forces. Winner of the Vimy Award.
General Rick Hillier was Canada's Chief of the Defence Staff - the highest ranking position in the Canadian Forces - from February 4, 2005 to July 1, 2008. Born in Newfoundland and Labrador, General Hillier joined the Canadian Forces as soon as he could. Having enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 1973 through the Regular Officer Training Plan program, he graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
After completing his armor officer classification training, he joined his first regiment, the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's) in Petawawa, Ontario. Subsequently, he served with, and later commanded, the Royal Canadian Dragoons in Canada and Germany. In July 2008 after 35 years of loyal service General Hillier retired from the Canadian Armed Forces.
Throughout his career, General Hillier has had the privilege and pleasure of commanding troops from the platoon to multi-national formation level within Canada, Europe, Asia and the United States. He has worked as a staff officer in several headquarters, first at the Army level in Montreal and later at the strategic level in Ottawa.
In 1998 General Hillier was appointed as the first Canadian Deputy Commanding General of III Corps, US Army in Fort Hood, Texas. In 2000 he took command of NATO's Stabilization Force's Multinational Division in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In May 2003 General Hillier was appointed as Commander of the Army and subsequently, in October 2003, he was selected as the Commander of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul, Afghanistan. General Hillier was promoted to Chief of the Defence Staff in February 2005.
In Afghanistan, Canada faced its first combat losses since the Korean War, with every casualty becoming front page news. There, as everywhere, Hillier pulled no punches, demanding more funding, more troops and more appreciation for the women and men fighting a war on foreign soil.
A Solder First: Bullets, Bureaucrats, and the Politics of War was released in October of 2009. This hard-hitting, honest account of Hillier's role -- told in his own words -- will be one of the most important books published in Canada this decade. General Rick Hillier's newest book is entitled Leadership: 50 Points of Wisdom for Today's Leaders.
General Hillier was recently named an Officer of the Order of Canada. He and his wife have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and a new grandson. He enjoys most recreational pursuits but, in particular, runs slowly, plays hockey poorly and golfs very well as long as he does not have to sink the ball.
Blind Adventurer. Extraordinarily inspiring, funny and compelling speaker.
Miles Hilton-Barber has been blind since his early twenties, but has not let that stop him from challenging barriers and achieving his dreams. He has sought adventure and succeeded on expeditions to deserts, mountains and the polar regions.
Miles' accomplishments are staggering: he has completed the toughest foot-race in the World, the Marathon Des Sables, a 150 mile Ultra-Marathon through the 120 degree heat of the Sahara Desert. He has conquered Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa at 19,340 feet. He competed in the Siberian Ice Marathon, billed as The Coldest Marathon on Earth. Some of his other achievements include white water rafting, flying microlights, tandem cycling, scuba-diving, para-sailing and 40 sky-diving jumps. For any person this would be an impressive record, but it is all the more astounding in that Miles has been blind for 25 years.
In other recent accomplishments, Miles was the first blind pilot to undertake a 55-day, 21,000 kilometer microlight flight from London to Sydney, relying on revolutionary speech-output technology on his instruments for navigation, accompanied by his sighted co-pilot. He also man-hauled a sledge over 250 miles across Antarctica.
An exceptional storyteller and corporate motivational speaker, Miles' messages of
never give up,
expect the unexpected and
think big to achieve big come wrapped in a package of humor and profound personal insight. He uses his experiences as an international adventurer to motivate and inspire others to achieve their potential. His words are not hollow generalizations - he offers practical ideas that work for everyone. Miles' managerial background complements his skills as a speaker, enabling him to tailor his talks to your particular business and personnel.
Miles is currently Director of Motivational Development at the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) in the U.K.

Motivational Speaker and Author on how to cultivate positive working environments
Vicki Hitzges had a dream first job working in the Dallas Cowboy’s front office. That job led to a career in television in Dallas where she had the privilege of interviewing U.S. Presidents Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, both George Bush and George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. She attributes her ability to talk to audiences today because she had to think fast and speak to everyone from political figures to business moguls to movie stars and athletes under the pressure and bright lights of a television studio.
Later, as a publicist, she worked to get clients featured in the news. One of her clients, motivational guru, Zig Ziglar, admired Vicki’s creativity and urged her to speak. In fact, she became one of only a few speakers he personally mentored. Within three months, she’d spoken around the world.
Due to that rich background, Vicki learned to craft stories, use humor, share practical content and involve her audience. In 2004, she earned the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation. CSP is the highest earned designation awarded by the National Speakers Association to recognize proven expertise and experience. Fewer than ten per cent of speakers worldwide hold the title.
She’s authored two books that enjoy five-star reviews and have sold more than 10,000 copies within the first year of being printed (rare for business books), Attitude is Everything and Stuck on Stop – How to Quit Procrastinating.
She’s spoken across the U.S. and as far away as Qatar, New Zealand (twice), Panama and Thailand.

Former NHL Star and Brother of Bobby Hull, sports legend and keynote speaker or Master of Ceremonies
Dennis Hull will readily admit to not being anything other than Bobby Hull's brother, as long as you add he's the younger brother. And, he's even been known to answer to someone asking for Brett Hull's uncle.
Dennis began his hockey career with the St. Catherines Black Hawks of the Junior A League where he played from 1961-1965. In 1965, he joined the Chicago Black Hawks of the National Hockey League where he played until 1976. He then spent one year with the Detroit Red Wings before retiring.
During his National Hockey League career, Dennis scored 303 goals and had 351 assists in regular games. In 95 playoff games he scored 33 goals and had the same number of assists. Six selections to the All Star team are testament to his hockey skills. His biggest thrill in hockey was the first game he played against his idol, Gordie Howe, but the most significant time in his career came when he was selected to play for the memorable Team Canada of 1972.
After retiring from hockey, Dennis continued his education, graduating from Brock University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Physical Education. During the summers of 1978 to 1982 he was the Director of Hockey, Sports Ridley. From 1980-1982, he taught history at Ridley College and also assumed responsibility for their entire hockey program.
From 1982 until 1993 Dennis was the Athletic Director at a University in Chicago. Also during that period he spent a few years as the color commentator with the San Jose Sharks.
Today Dennis combines his love for farming, raising PureBred Polled Herefords at his farm just east of Toronto with his numerous speaking engagements.
Gordie and Colleen Howe,
Mr and Mrs. Hockey quoted in Dennis's book The Third Best Hull ( I would have been fourth but they wouldn't let my sister Maxine play):
Without a doubt, Dennis is one of the most talented speakers and comedians in all of sports. He rivals the likes of Bob Hope and Eddie Murphy with his wit and humor. He was a natural on the ice, and now he is a natural on the stage.
In 2005 Dennis Hull was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame as a member of Team Canada 1972.

Afterburner, Inc trains global organizations to accelerate their performance and ensure a higher success rate for their strategic objectives. Afterburner’s full client list includes more than 150 US Fortune 500 companies. Over 1.7 million business leaders have experienced an Afterburner program and rated their experience an average of 9.2 out of 10. Afterburner specializes in strategic and agile planning and continuous improvement through building a culture of learning, accountability and proven execution in accordance with a simple, scalable improvement processes model, Flawless Execution?. Afterburner’s Flawless ExecutionSM framework provides the necessary structures, collaboration, and teamwork to close the Execution Gap – the gap between what an organization plans to do what it actually achieves. Founded in 1996 by former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot James “Murph” Murphy, Afterburner has ranked among Inc. Magazine’s “Inc. 500 List of America’s Fastest Growing Companies” three times and has been featured in leading publications like the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Atlanta Business Chronicle, Financial Times, Newsweek, and Meetings and Conventions Magazine. Afterburner has also appeared on CNN, CNBC, Fox News, and Bloomberg News, among others.
The Flawless Execution Model:
Plan - The plan starts with an objective that is clear, measurable and achievable and supports your company's overall strategy.
Brief- You communicate the plan. It is essential that people on the front lines know exactly what is expected of them. Businesses ignore this, often at their peril.
Execute- Even with a solid plan and a good brief, a mission can still fail due to Task Saturation or task overload. Task Saturation is the reality or perception of having too much to do without the time or resources to accomplish it. Even with the resources people still have to manage conflicting priorities. We know that as Task Saturation increases, performance decreases; therefore, at Afterburner we help teams combat Task Saturation by identifying resources and managing priorities.
Debrief - The last step is the Debriefing. After each mission, Fighter Pilots hold a nameless, rankless Debrief. Each person, without fear of reprimand, rehashes what worked, what did not work and why both the good events and the bad events happened. We then take the key lessons learned from the Debrief and apply them to the next plan. Debriefing speeds up learning. It lets us fine tune the processes that ensure success.
Win! - Our goal is to win by aligning your team around a disciplined, scalable process in order to achieve business results.
