Empower your leaders to lead themselves and others with greater purpose, passion, courage and confidence. Drawing on the latest research in leadership and neuro-science, plus interviews with some of the world’s top change makers – past and present, Margie gets to the heart of what undermines leadership effectiveness, sharing science based strategies to:

  • Engage people around a big Why that taps ingenuity and counters anxiety and complacency
  • Act decisively amid uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Grow their currency of trust and avoid the hidden tax of mistrust
  • Identify blind spots and foster a risk ready mindset driven by purpose over prid
  • Engage in the tough conversations that are too often avoided
  • Create rituals that build resilience to stay ‘on purpose,’ thrive under pressure and fail forward faster

Culture of Courage: Harness the Collective Ingenuity, Creativity and Diversity
The greatest threat to any organization is the fear that stifles ingenuity, fuels risk aversion and drives highly capable, creative people to make short-sighted decisions. Margie will equip leaders with strategies to build psychological safety and foster a ‘culture of courage’ that harnesses human capital and emboldens disruptive thinking to ensure organizations remain competitive in an increasingly uncertain, globalized and accelerated world. Margie will share a powerful framework supported by the latest research.

  • Counter the fear-based biases that undermine change initiatives, inhibit crucial conversations and stifle creativity, innovation and engagement
  • Rethink risk to make braver decisions
  • Create unconscious inclusion that harnesses the full value of diversity
  • Foster the growth mind-set needed to nurture ingenuity and ‘intrapreneurship’ and help people ‘fail forward’
  • Build the ‘loyal cohesion’ needed to challenge outdated paradigms that stifle innovation
  • Communicate their vision in ways that maximizes engagement

Speak Bravely: Speak Up in Ways that Grow your Influence and Impact
The quality of our relationships and network is determined by the quality of the conversations we have in them. Learn skills to build trust, speak with authority and master tough conversations in ways that grow collaboration, earn respect and produce stronger outcomes for all stakeholders.

  • Find the confidence to say what needs to be said
  • Text or talk: Why it’s vital we don’t hide behind technology in the digital age
  • Dial up your EQ to deal with sensitive situations and disarm defensive people
  • Listen for the unspoken concerns to move from conflict to collaboration
  • Learn the four steps to giving critical feedback [in order] to optimize positive outcomes
  • Express anger without insult and disagree without being disagreeable
  • Build accountability and manage conflicting commitments

Women Rising: Unlock the Force of Female Potential to Change the World
Despite overwhelming evidence supporting the case for more women to sit at decision-making tables, too few currently do. The reasons are many and the solutions complex, yet one thing is certain: empowering women to own their value and challenge old thinking is not just a moral imperative, it’s an economic one. In this presentation, Margie draws on her own experiences of challenging gender norms and navigating her own path from a small dairy farm in rural Australia to raising four children while moving around the world and building her career. Currently completing her PhD on women’s leadership, she will share insights and practical strategies to:

  • Empower organizations to plug the leaky pipeline and get more women at the top tables
  • Teach women to ‘power up’ their language to build respect, counter unconscious bias and build their executive presence and leadership brand
  • Foster authentic leadership and bringing your whole self to work
  • Manage benevolent sexism and likeability/capability ‘double bind’ bias against women
  • Beat ‘imposter syndrome’ and keep ‘mothers’-guilt’ in check
  • Encourage women to ‘lift as they climb’ and tap the collective power of the sisterhood
  • Challenge sponsors, mentors, and to get [bring?] more men on board

Make your Mark: Unleash your Purpose, Power and Potential to Make your Biggest Mark
The biggest regret people have at the end of their lives is that they lived too safely and risked too little. In this inspiring keynote, Margie will draw on her diverse life experiences and hard won wisdom to inspire your audience to take action to live a bigger, braver and more meaningful life.

  • Power and presence: Align your language, focus and physiology to bring your best self to your biggest challenges
  • Three questions to discover your Why and live with a clear sense of purpose
  • Rethink risk and exit the safe lane – learn to get comfortable being uncomfortable
  • Upgrade your mental maps: The assumptions that got you here won’t get you there
  • Failing forward: Bounce back from setbacks with a wiser mind and stronger spirit
  • Forget perfect: Give yourself permission to start now, wherever you are

Raising Brave Kids: Emboldening Next Gen Leaders to Step Up
We’re hardwired to protect our kids, yet in our overly-cautious world we do our kids a disservice when we deprive them of opportunities to learn how to navigate risk, handle failure and adapt to change. Equip the next generation of leaders with the mind-set needed to adapt to the world we cannot yet see and become purpose-driven global citizens who can find opportunity amid uncertainty and adversity. Drawing on her professional experience and personal journey as a mother of four teenagers, Margie will discuss:

  • Why we should [must] lead the way in resisting peer pressure from family, friends and educators to over-protect, over-parent and over-preen our kids
  • How to identify when we are burdening kids with our own fears, insecurities and unmet ambitions
  • Why a little ‘conscientious neglect’ generally does far more good than harm
  • Helping our kids discern smart risks from stupid ones
  • Avoiding unconscious bias in how we raise our daughters and sons, to shift the norms that work against gender equality.
