Matthias’ entrepreneurial style was the driving force behind two highly disruptive financial service companies. As Founder and CEO of Fidor Bank and DAB Bank, he built both organizations from scratch - forging his reputation as a key figure in the FinTech movement. The Fidor project began in 2007 - long before the FinTech boom started, and positioned Fidor at the forefront of global FinTech development, becoming known as the “oldest FinTech bank in the world”.

The core of his philosophy centered on how financial services organizations can use technology to effectively engage their retail and SME customers with innovative, value-adding business and service models.
Matthias was at the helm as Fidor pioneered one of the world’s first Banking-as-a-Service offerings, enabling start-ups to achieve scale and become part of the digital ecosystem. Building a bridge from innovation to regulation - he brokered the first cooperation between a regulated bank and crypto-currency trading platforms. As well as this, Fidor enabled non-banks to offer full banking services for the first time in a collaboration with Telefonica in 2016.
Since standing down as CEO of Fidor in March 2019, Matthias has sharpened his focus on how technology can be used to build bridges between financial services and impactful projects that help to make the world a better place. Co-author, Mavericks at Work; Co-Founder, Management Lab; Founding Writer, Fast Company
All change goes against the rules. Polly LaBarre arms leaders with a Maverick Manual to hack the status quo and ramp up originality, invention and game-changing disruption. The true work of leadership, she says, is inspiring, unleashing, and amplifying human creativity, passion, and resourcefulness -- creating a cultural DNA where the response to change happens almost as fast as change itself. Co-author of Mavericks at Work: Why the Most Original Minds in Business Win and founding team member of Fast Company magazine, Polly is co-founder of Management Lab, the think-and-do tank where she consults with top global brands. Polly is also a top speaker who leaves audiences with actionable lessons from organizations and leaders who are transforming their cultures and industries by breaking the rules and harnessing the human element. She inspires people to engage and re-imagine the challenges they face, become fearless experimenters, and rethink the work of leadership.
Along with her partners at the Management Lab (MLab), Polly has developed a pioneering method and platform for changing how large organizations change. They run large-scale, real-world experiments in “hacking management” to build the deep organizational capabilities crucial for thriving in a creative, disruptive world: adaptability, innovation, and inspiration.
In addition to running global “management hackathons,” MLab has also built the Management Innovation eXchange (MIX), the world’s largest community of management innovators, created a clearinghouse of management hacks and innovation stories, and launched a series of events.
Polly has traveled the world to work with the courageous contrarians, management mavericks, and pioneering progressives who are inventing the future of organizations and business. While these are organizations of every stripe that hail from every realm of endeavor, they do share a common credo: that the most winning organizations are animated by an utterly distinctive and deeply-felt point of view -- a set of ideas with the power to fundamentally reshape the sense of what’s possible; that work is personal, values rule, freedom is a bigger game than power, and nobody wins unless everybody wins.
Early in her career, as part of the founding team of Fast Company magazine, Polly played a central role in the remarkable success of a magazine that recast the conventional wisdom on power, competition, work, leadership, innovation, and change. The magazine introduced the world to a new universe of organizations and leaders whose management models were as distinctive as their business models were disruptive.
Polly is the co-author of the award-winning book Mavericks at Work: Why the Most Original Minds in Business Win, which was a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and BusinessWeek best-seller. Published in over 20 territories, Mavericks was a “Business Book of the Year” for the Financial Times, the Miami Herald, and The Economist, which called the book "a pivotal work in the tradition of In Search of Excellence and Good to Great." CNN, CNBC, and GMA all created series around the book.
Polly’s writing has appeared in a variety of publications, including Fast Company, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review online, Fortune.com, the McKinsey Quarterly, and she has served as business and innovation correspondent for CNN.

Wayne Lee is a motivational keynote speaker and versatile entertainer. If there's one thing peak performance experts like Wayne agree on, it's that the mind is capable of leading us anywhere. He also knows that for many of us, our minds are littered with detours, potholes and accidents waiting to happen. Fear, self-doubt, inhibitions of all kinds, these beliefs reside in our subconscious and prevent us from reaching our conscious goals. But if you set your GPS (Great Programmable Subconscious) for success, you can achieve anything while taking the ride of your life.
Wayne's own journey to excellence was fuelled with an unrelenting passion for entertaining and empowering people. From a childhood fascination with magic and visualization, Wayne's gift for seeing and acting on what's possible has grown to international proportions: He is one of North America's premier corporate presenters, a veteran of thousands of successful shows, a published author, and peak performance coach to professionals of all walks of life. And he's practiced what he preaches. Wayne is a former five-time Canadian amateur wrestling champion, who also served as a beloved classroom instructor before taking the stage in the corporate world. More recently, he was named
Entertainer of the Year for the Canadian Events Industry.
Which brings us back to the power of the mind. Wayne Lee is an unrelenting advocate for individuals and teams looking to turn potential into performance. Through humor and hypnosis, he helps people drop their defenses and access their GPS. Once in there, Wayne shows how what you put in - beliefs, attitudes, goals and vision - acts as coordinates that absolutely determine whether or not you reach your destination. Get it wrong and you're stuck in traffic. Get it right and you'll get to your goal faster and more directly than you ever thought possible.
Many people find it difficult to make the connection between the inner goings-on of the
mind and outward action and performance, yet it's crucial to any success.
That's why Wayne Lee's work is so special. He can break down the barriers of even the
most cynical and resistant individuals through laughter and hypnosis, in the process
showing them how to access their own subconscious. Once people realize what's
possible when they program their GPS for success, it's as if they become a new
person - the person they were always meant to be. For employers, that means
productivity, teamwork, and a great attitude at work. For employees themselves,
it's like being handed the keys to the ride of their lives.
Leading Technologist, Lawyer, Executive, Futurist, and First Woman to Lead the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
The Honorable Michelle K. Lee was the first female to lead the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO); was an executive at Google; and was a computer scientist at MIT’s Artificial Intelligence Lab and HP’s Research Lab, Michelle Lee has constantly been in the forefront of the newest innovations that are disrupting our industries and driving spectacular growth in the world.
It started early on, growing up around the huge wave of Silicon Valley companies that were revolutionizing our world, inspiring her to build her own hand-held radio as a child. Her love of technology led her to simultaneously earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the MIT. She later earned her law degree at Stanford University’s School of Law because she wanted to work on the most cutting-edge legal and policy issues facing high-tech companies.
Lee’s career is as remarkable as it is diverse. She is an MIT-trained computer scientist where she wrote her thesis on artificial intelligence, and an attorney and former law partner at Fenwick & West, Deputy General Counsel and Head of Patents and Patent Strategy for Google, co-founder of the Chief IP Counsels (ChIPs), the first woman Under Secretary of Commerce, and Director of the USPTO in our country’s 200+ year history.
Her focus on creating an environment that assures inventors and innovators the chance to grow and prosper, leading her into government service as Director of the USPTO’s Silicon Valley satellite office. In 2015 she was unanimously confirmed by the US Senate as the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and took the helm of USPTO’s 10,000-employee organization. During her tenure, she led a 13,000 person agency with a $3.4 billion annual budget. She modernized the 225 year-old agency, streamlining the review processes and creating the maximum economic benefit for American inventors and businesses.
Michelle Lee is a remarkable speaker who offers unique perspectives resulting from her experiences in the trenches of innovation at the MIT AI and HP Research Labs, at Google during its rise from small company to global powerhouse, and as the head of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office where she witnessed first-hand inventions from across the globe. Her presentations not only journey thru the newest and most advance technologies, but also examine the business opportunities and regulations that will be key to our future. There is nobody else who has her unique experience at the highest levels as a scientist, business woman, attorney and government executive, and there is no presentation that is as effective at providing a complete picture for business leaders.
