Richard Thaler won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 2017 for his work on behavioral economics. Richard studies the psychology of decision-making which lies in the gap between economics and psychology. He investigates the implications of relaxing the standard economic assumption that everyone in the economy is rational and selfish, instead entertaining the possibility that some of the agents in the economy are sometimes human. Thaler is the director of the Center for Decision Research, and is the co-director (with Robert Shiller) of the Behavioral Economics Project at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
Thaler is the co-author (with Cass R. Sunstein) of the global best seller Nudge in which the concepts of behavioral economics are used to tackle many of society’s major problems. In 2015 he published Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics. He has authored or edited four other books: Quasi-Rational Economics, The Winner's Curse: Paradoxes and Anomalies of Economic Life, and Advances in Behavioral Finance (editor) Volumes I and II. He has published numerous articles in prominent journals such as the American Economics Review, the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Political Economy.
Thaler is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Fellow of the American Finance Association and the Econometrics Society, and in 2015 will serve as the President of the American Economic Association.
Before joining the University of Chicago faculty in 1995 Thaler taught at the University of Rochester and Cornell as well as visiting stints at The University of British Columbia, the Sloan School of Management at MIT, the Russell Sage Foundation and the Center for Advanced Study in Behavioral Sciences at Stanford.
Originally from New Jersey, Thaler attended Case Western Reserve University where he received a bachelor's degree in 1967. Soon after, he attended the University of Rochester where he received a master's degree in 1970 and a PhD in 1974. He joined the Chicago Booth faculty in 1995.

Christopher Thornberg is Founding Partner of Beacon Economics, LLC and widely considered to be one of the nation's leading economists. Margie's international experience has found her working with diverse organizations from NASA and the United Nations Foundation to British Telecom, Berkshire Hathaway and the Australian Federal Police.
A member of the Advisory Board of Forbes School of Business & Technology, Margie is also adjunct faculty at Duke Executive Education and has guest lectured at Columbia, Georgetown and her alma mater, Monash University in Australia.
A Forbes contributor and host of the Live Brave Podcast, Margie has been described as an ‘international authority on brave leadership’ by the Wall Street Journal. Her insights have also been shaped by her work and interviews with leaders such as Sir Richard Branson, Steve Forbes, Bill Marriott, Australian Prime Minister John Howard and Oliver Stone. Margie has also co-authored two other books with Stephen Covey, Jack Canfield and Ken Blanchard. Aside from keynotes, Margie is also often asked to add a panel session (panelist or moderator), VIP reception, town hall/fireside chat with the CEO as an example.
A passionate advocate for gender equality and inclusive leadership, in 2010 Margie founded Global Courage to embolden braver leadership and advance more women to decision-making tables. She is a Women’s Economic Forum honoree and Ambassador for Women in Global Business and Google’s Womenwill.
An adventurous spirit at heart, Margie has lived around the world - from the wilds of Papua New Guinea to Washington, D.C. - and traveled widely. She has crossed the Sahara Desert, stayed in Palestinian refugee camps, hiked the Inca trail and Himalayas, swam with piranhas in the Amazon and, perhaps bravest of all, cycled across Beijing. Last but not least, Margie is also the mother of four intrepid teenage children and enjoys sharing adventures with them and her husband Andrew of 25 years - most recently, summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro.

While studying for his undergraduate degree in social sciences at Harvard, Marc suddenly lost all his college savings in a stock market crash. Compelled to have to help pay for college, Marc started a small marketing company. Little did he know, he was about to embark on a journey filled with challenges. He would soon learn just how hard it was to have to sell in order to survive.
During that time, Marc made tens of thousands of cold calls per year, spoke to sell, asked for introductions and did everything else necessary to make sales. The social scientist in him was shocked by how little data and science was incorporated in the commonly use selling approaches.
Thus began a journey of searching for the real data and science behind selling. As he went along, he began to learn what worked and what didn’t. He also found some powerful mentors who taught him to use the data to look at sales from a completely different angle. Studying under these mentors, Marc experimented with the very sales techniques that now make up the Game Plan Selling SystemTM.
By using these data-driven and science-based techniques, Marc created exponential growth for his marketing business, turning it into one of the fastest-growing event marketing companies in New England. The expanding client list soon included corporations such as Subway Sandwich Shops, ExxonMobil and Getty Oil. As his company grew, Marc served as captain of Harvard’s rugby team and was selected as an All-American rugby player.
These experiences as a top athlete further shaped his sales philosophy, as he discovered many similarities between closing the sale and winning on the field. After selling his business at just 23 years old, Marc began teaching data-driven sales strategies to organizations both large and small.
